Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Bahrain to the United Kingdom
Eight young artists from Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates won a regional art competition to travel to the United Kingdom in search of a unique portrait of British life.
Abdullah, Abir, Aysha, Azooz, Bashaer, Jawahir, Mohammad and Mohammed were invited to take part and develop their 'creative potential' as artists, filmmakers, photographers and writers.
From the bustle of East London to the remote highlands of Scotland, the winning team travelled to a series of specially chosen locations in England, Scotland and Wales from 6-20 July 2008. The aim of the project was to give students from the UK and the Middle East the chance to communicate and learn from each other in a positive and creative way.
"Adults have ideas which have been with them for many years, it can't easily be changed, but for youth - they are like a sponge. They're more open-minded, they accept different points of view."
