Create & Inspire 2014: COMPETITION OPEN
Create & Inspire is a competition run by the Crossway Foundation with the aim of discovering talented young artists in the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
This year's competition is open to 16-25 year olds in the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar and the prize is a 2-week creative journey of a lifetime to Brazil. Apply now: www.create-inspire.org
Graffiti workshop with Brazilian artist Alexandre Orion
On 14 March we organised a free graffiti workshop lead by Brazilian graffiti artist Alexandre Orion. Members of the public joined Orion in the magnificent setting of MIA Park in Doha to create a collaborative mural.
This workshop marked the launch of Create & Inspire, a competition to find talented young artists in the UK, Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia. The prize will be the 2-week creative journey of a lifetime to Brazil.
Graffiti workshop with eL Seed and Ruben Sanchez
On Friday 6 December, the Crossway Foundation organised a free graffiti workshop in Dubai, in partnership with Tashkeel and Brownbook.
Over 100 members of the community joined graffiti artists eL Seed and Ruben Sanchez in turning a blank wall at The Archive in Safa Park into a permanent piece of art.
Islamic Pattern & Dome Building Workshops II
In December, the Crossway Foundation returned to the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha for a second series of Islamic pattern and dome building workshsops with British artist Adam Williamson, as part of Qatar UK 2013.
Create & Inspire 2013: Films
In August 2013, 10 young artists from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates went on a journey around the UK with the Foundation's Create & Inspire programme, working with top creative industries on the theme of public art and re-imagining their communities.
This resulted in a series of clips which can be seen here.
